ADSL Broadband: 24/7 Internet Access

ADSL broadband, like a home broadband connection, provides a faster downstream data transfer speed than upstream. This is perfectly adequate for ‘typical’ Internet access as small amounts of data are sent upstream to request, higher data volume, webpages, video etc. to be sent downstream.

Bandwidth is also provided on a contention basis where a number of broadband lines share a connection at the local exchange. Contention ratios vary depending on location.
